5. The Mega Powers Self-Destruct (1989)
As mentioned before, when the announcers say its every man for himself in the Royal Rumble, they mean it. Case in point, the Mega Powers Hulk Hogan and Macho Man Randy Savage were a dominant force throughout much of 1988 into 1989, teaming up to battle Ted DiBiase and Andre the Giant (the Mega Bucks) at SummerSlam. It seemed like nothing could stop this duo. But at the 1989 Royal Rumble, Hogan dumped Bad News Brown and Savage simultaneously, sending Macho Man into overdrive. Savage, the WWF Champion at the time, jabbed his finger at Hogan while Miss Elizabeth tried to mediate. However, the cracks were there, and things would boil over two weeks ago, when Savage would turn on Hogan, setting up their WrestleMania V title match. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fRCzuQH1mg As a wrestling fan, seeing two of the biggest babyface stars in WWF at the time have a public meltdown was tremendous and led to an epic Mania main event.
