20 Best TNA Wrestlers Ever

10. Sting

In TNA, Sting was pushed far too aggressively for far too long, but still, the man didn’t need to show up for a single match in the company.

Sting basically joined TNA as a favor to Jeff and Jerry Jarrett on their one year anniversary show. Had he never appeared in the company, you couldn’t have blamed him. He could have either enjoyed retirement, or gone on to WWE and made millions. But he wanted to be a positive force in the business, and tried to help TNA grow.

After that first match, he disappeared for awhile, but then returned and largely stuck around for the next nine years. Had TNA actually grown during that time, and become a successful and profitable promotion, then Sting would be better remembered for his contributions, but it didn’t play out that way, though you can’t put too much blame on him.

For the most part, Sting’s work in the ring was pretty impressive for his age. The man was in his 50's for most of his run there, and could still put on passable-to-pretty good matches for the majority of that time. Unfortunately, he wasn’t treated as a major Undertaker-like star and was instead hauled out every single week to wrestle a bunch of meaningless matches to diminishing returns.

So while we got too much of Sting, the man gave it his all, and had entertaining feuds with the likes of A.J. Styles and Kurt Angle and lent them a lot of star power. We’ll always remember him best for his WCW run, but considering his age, and the terrible writing he often had to deal with, Sting actually did pretty well for himself in TNA.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
