4. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho (No Mercy 2008)
Winning plaudits from all and sundry for their long-running feud in 2008, Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho stole the entire calendar year with their rivalry, one which extended over a number of marquee Pay-Per-View matches. By far the crown jewel of those bouts however was the Ladder Match from No Mercy in October. To this day, Jericho remarks that it's one of his best performances ever, and it's hard to argue with that logic. Growing up a Shawn Michaels fan, Y2J knew exactly what to do to make the occasion feel special, and it's a good job WWE elected to let the match main event the show, because nobody could have hoped to follow it once it was all over with. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x74dt9_wwe-no-mercy-2008-chris-jericho-vs_sport A lot of people were likely thinking that Michaels would leave with Jericho's World Heavyweight Championship around his waist, but it wasn't to be. Instead, the Canadian - who had been on fire for the entire year since turning heel - was given the rare distinction of being a heel who escapes with his title in hand during a WWE Pay-Per-View main event. The feelgood story of HBK winning the gold would have been nice, but this was one hell of a way to cap off the feud.
