Widely regarded as one of the best tag team rivalries of all-time, The Midnight Express vs. Rock ‘n’ Roll Express stretched from 1984 all the way through to their final match together in 2011. It pitted a perfect heel unit (The Midnights) against Ricky Morton, the undisputed king of the face-in-peril role, and Robert Gibson, a master of the hot tag.

You could slot a number of different Midnights vs. RNR matches into this position, but a bunch of their most acclaimed contests aren’t easily available on tape. Fortunately, their WCW WrestleWar ‘90 collision stands among the group’s finest work together, and it had a little bit of everything. Comedy, managerial shenanigans, dissent in the Midnights’ ranks: it made for an extremely eventful 23 minutes, and progressed at a surprisingly fast pace.

The match felt more like an all-action ‘90s tag contest than the slower, methodical bouts of old, but they still found a way to include the classic Morton selling spot. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express walked away with the victory that night, but the two teams would clash on many more occasions over the following years, putting an exclamation point on their undeniable legacy.
