Last year placed 3 John Cena is firmly entrenched as WWE's franchise star, and this year was another strong showing from the cash cow of the company. His merchandise sales remain the highest and his effect on PPV and TV ratings is still a force. Love him or hate him, you also have to acknowledge his performances in the ring. He's sold like a madman against Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, putting on one of the matches of the year in the process. His other efforts may not have been as memorable, but they were all certainly good quality. Main events like Orton at Royal Rumble, the Elimination Chamber, the Wyatt series, the WWE Title ladder match at MITB, the cell match with Orton at Hell In A Cell - these were all good showings. Television efforts with Seth Rollins and Cesaro also made for some of the best viewing of the year. He remains the guy who has it all. The biggest reactions and the biggest merchandise sales are pretty much what matters most in the the WWE. His mic skills and in-ring skills are sometimes hit and miss, but more often than not they are good. He's had a stronger than average year by his standards. The two things that stand out are winning his fifteenth Championship (meaning in 2015 he'll probably tie Ric Flair's sweet sixteen), and the selling performance he did for Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. Has any main event wrestler in his prime ever been that generous to another performer? Cena deserves a lot of credit for his overall conduct and leadership in 2014. The guy is a worker in the truest sense of the word. Highlight of the year: Becoming a 15 time Champion.
