20 Most Cringe-Worthy Gimmicks In WCW History

4. Oz

It says a lot about the talent (and size) of Kevin Nash that he was able to be so successful in wrestling despite such an unimpressive start. He competed as one half of the Road Warrior rip-off Master Blasters, but that duo failed to catch fire and was put to rest not long after it began. Meanwhile, Turner was looking for a way to cross promote their recent acquisition of the rights to many classic movies and decided they wanted a wrestling character to help with that. And thus came the introduction of Oz. Nash walked to the ring under green lighting, wearing a cheap rubber wizard mask and accompanied by a monkey and Merlin the Wizard (Kevin Sullivan, whose name is mentioned a lot on this list). Nevermind the fact that Merlin wasn€™t a part of The Oz mythology whatsoever. WCW just threw him in there because wizards. Sadly the silver-haired giant decked out in emerald green didn€™t appeal to fans. The Oz debut is wrestlecrap at its finest and a must see for any wrestling fan.
