For wrestling fans of a certain age, Gorilla Moonsoon and Bobby Heenan were a big part of their childhood. On Prime Time Wrestling, the two teamed up to announce matches, where Monsoon called it right down the middle, and Heenan was being his usual weasel self and rooting for all of the heels. The chemistry between them simply worked. It was the classic comedy duo of the straight man and goofball, and you couldn't wait to hear how Gorilla would react to Heenan's outlandish claims. "Will you stop!" On Raw in 1993, it was Gorilla who kicked Heenan out the door once and for all. He'd simply had enough of The Brain. It was an early highlight of the new show, and there was no one more suited to deliver that final goodbye than Monsoon. Heenan went back to work in WCW, but it wasn't the same. He never developed an entertaining rapport with Schiavone. One of their more memorable moments during Heenan's Nitro run was announcing that Gorilla had passed away. The Brain was visibly shaken. When the Hall of Fame came calling for him years later, he tearfully wished that Gorilla could be there too. It was a strong friendship that is hard to come by. Not just in wrestling, but in life.
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
