20 Greatest Losing Performances At WrestleMania

11. Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar €“ WrestleMania 19

Similar to the events surrounding Steve Austin on the same night, Kurt Angle headed into his WWE Championship defense against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 19 with health concerns. The Olympic Gold Medalist was suffering from a second broken neck. While the option of dropping the title to Brock ahead of the big event was discussed, Angle stuck it out to close the show. His surgery was scheduled for the next morning. In behind the scenes interviews, Angle talked about his apprehension going into the match with Lesnar, who was still a rookie and taking part in his first WrestleMania. Angle said Brock didn€™t know his own strength. The match was so physical that you couldn€™t believe one of the competitors had a broken neck. In the closing moments, Brock botched a shooting star press and knocked himself out. He was in La-La Land, but Angle was able to get in his ear and call the final spot of the match, an F-5 for the win. Angle collapsed in the locker room afterward.
