Let’s cut to the chase - at the tail end of this match, Io Shirai put a bin on her head and jumped off the top of the cage. There’s plenty more to love about this match, of course, but in the interest of putting our best foot forward, that’s the indelible image of the evening.

Showing off its incredible women’s division to the max, NXT pitted Candice LeRae’s team of Tony Storm, Dakota Kai, and Raquel Gonzales against Shotzi Blackheart’s team of Rhea Ripley, Ember Moon, and the aforementioned maniac Shirai.

The pace didn’t let up for a second as everyone involved got their stuff in. Ripley and Gonzales whooped each other senseless, Moon and Kai took some fiendish bumps against the steel, Storm ran wild with weapons, LeRae continued a banner 2020, Shotzi took a crunching fall off a ladder.

35 minutes of chaos eventually saw Shirai eat the pin from Gonzales, a slightly questionable decision given Shirai’s status - but then again, she did jump off the cage with a bin on her head, so she’s the real winner here.
