The women’s rumble was perhaps a little more predictable than the men’s, but boasted some particularly great performances and an eye to the future. This, along with a slightly neater structure, elevated it above the boys’ effort.

The first phase was given to goofiness, with Billie Kay “entering” at number four - or rather, coming down to the ring, pestering other women to team up with her, and joining Jerry Lawler (here on his best behaviour) on commentary.

After this we got Rhea Ripley and Charlotte in quick succession, who unsurprisingly tore things up. Alexa Bliss was chucked out before getting in much fiendish silliness, Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler added some fierce brawling to the mix.

Before long, Rhea was left with Bianca Belair, who’d been in since number three and put in a truly star making performance. The two proved themselves to be the next wave of female stars for the industry in a magnificent final two. Both have WrestleMania title matches, and all being well, both will emerge from this weekend’s action with brand new belts.
