The Ultimate X stipulation is one that's been tarnished by over-exposure. When it was first used in 2003, it seemed like a breath of fresh air for pro wrestling. High-flying, Cruiserweight-style action was all the rage, and TNA's X Division was tearing it up. Continually giving away Ultimate X matches on free television inevitably hurt the gimmick.

Things were still rocking back in 2005 though, and anticipation was rife for Final Resolution in January. Only the sixth Ultimate X Match to take place, AJ Styles vs. Chris Sabin vs. Petey Williams was everything fans loved about the high-wire spectacle.

As the defending champion, Williams looked desperate to escape with the title still in his possession. That only made it more thrilling to see AJ get the win, his victory was extremely popular with the live crowd in the Impact Zone.

Everyone involved was at the top of their game at this point, and even though Styles was the undoubted star in the making, Sabin and Williams didn't look overwhelmed by that. Anybody could have won here, the playing field was made to look very even by TNA.
