14. Desmond Wolfe Vs. Kurt Angle (Turning Point 2009)

Nigel McGuinness witnessed his wrestling dreams turn into a real-life nightmare very quickly. On the cusp of joining WWE in 2009, a mysterious injury and failed medical cost him his opportunity. Never one to give up on himself, McGuinness joined TNA instead and was recast as the abrasive Desmond Wolfe.

Feuding with Kurt Angle offered Wolfe the chance to bed into the TNA roster, and he attacked the legend during his debut appearance. A match was set for the Turning Point pay-per-view, and it turned out to be an absolute cracker. Even though Wolfe lost via submission to Angle, he more than proved why there had been sustained interest from WWE.

Fans who knew his work in ROH weren't surprised, but fresh eyes were opened upon his performance. A later bout at Final Resolution was arguably more dramatic (mainly due to the 'Three Degrees Of Pain' 2-Out-Of-3 Falls gimmick), but the Turning Point match is a hidden gem in TNA history.

Wolfe didn't go on to become a top name in the promotion, but Turning Point remains his finest performance under the TNA banner.
