John Cena's dalliance with ECW is best known for his One Night Stand 2006 match against Rob Van Dam, but his legacy with the world of Extreme Championship Wrestling doesn't end there. In a match that feels like some sort of fever dream, Cena faced the hardcore legend Sabu in an Extreme Rules Lumberjack bout at Vengeance 2006 after weeks of being tormented and attacked by ECW legends.

Having already been put through a table in the run-up to the match courtesy of a death-defying running springboard legdrop from the top rope, Cena faced Sabu with a bizarre cast of Lumberjacks at ringside. The likes of The Sandman, Tommy Dreamer, and Nunzio were ready to assist their fellow ECW alumni, while the Lumberjacks were rounded out by Val Venis, Gene Snitsky, and assorted members of the Raw roster. This happened while Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler provided their trademark commentary, making the whole thing feel even more bizarre.

The match itself lasted less than seven minutes, filled with chair shots and Singapore cane blasts. For the finish, John launched Sabu from inside the ring through a table on the outside, thanks to an FU. He then dragged the ECW icon back into the ring, before tapping him out in the STF to end a frenzied match-up.
