20 Late 90's WCW Stars You Totally Don't Remember

5. Ciclope

During the mid-to-late-90's, there was such an influx of talent into WCW that it's hard to keep a track of. One Cruiserweight wrestler, Ciclope, is not well-remembered, and his biggest moment in the company actually only involved his costume. Wrestling as 'Halloween' in Mexico before his appearances in WCW, Ciclope was only really brought in to lay the foundations for a different angle. Dean Malenko and Chris Jericho had been feuding over the WCW Cruiserweight Title. As the story went, Jericho was refusing to grant Malenko a match for the belt, instead avoiding him and generally acting like a typical cowardly heel. A Battle Royal was announced, with the winner getting a shot at Jericho and his title. Ciclope won it, only it turned out to be Dean Malenko underneath the mask. Thus, Jericho could do no more running, and the pair were booked together in a match over the WCW Cruserweight Title. For Ciclope, this was a barmy moment, because it was the closest he himself would come to being associated with the title. To this day, the character remains a more fitting answer to a trivia question rather than an outright star, despite his popularity in Mexico.
