By early-2011, Sting's contract with TNA had expired. Videos began airing on RAW that promised some major happening on the February 21 episode of the show. Suddenly, the talk of Undertaker vs. Sting came barreling out of the woodwork, and a WrestleMania match looked like it was going to happen. Sting's WWE debut would come as an attempt to end the 18-0 streak. Except it didn't. Sting admitted he was approached by WWE with an offer of that very match, but he turned it down. Sting would re-sign with TNA, and explained his motives by saying he still didn't trust WWE's word after he'd seen so many WCW alums get cut off and thrown aside after the 2001 sale of the company.
