16. Sting And Hogan Got Royalties For Other Merchandise Sales

Writing about the situation in one of his three autobiographies, 'Y2J' Chris Jericho repeatedly states that he was pretty miserable during the last days of his WCW run. Aware that he was about to depart for the WWF in August, 1999, Jericho saw this as a chance to show what he could do, and prove to WCW's upper management that they were wrong to hold him back from the main event mix.

It's fair to say that WCW top brass knew Jericho was a good hand inside the ring, but they didn't really perceive him to be in the same league as guys like Sting, Goldberg, Kevin Nash or Hogan, something which frustrated the endlessly talented Canadian immensely.

Something else which cheesed him off no end, was the fact that even merchandise royalties were hard to come by for him in WCW. His wife purchased a Chris Jericho WCW action figure, and was appalled to find out that the receipt she received in-store stipulated that she'd purchased a Hollywood Hogan/Sting twin doll set. In essence, Hogan and Sting then got the residual revenue from the sale, not Jericho!
