Controversy: Having to wipe away the event's crowning moment from history WrestleMania 20 was supposed to be one of the greatest nights in the history of wrestling. It was a great night, capped off by what was set to be the new "era" in WWE... Eddie Guerrero as the WWE Champion and Chris Benoit as the World Champion, signaling a shift from the more cartoonish, over-the-top characters and to the people who can wrestle their butts off, regardless of size. The final weekend of Benoit's life changed everything. Gone were the days of the company openly celebrating the man's life and career. Gone were the days of even mentioning him. He would be wiped from the history books completely, but WrestleMania 20 made that incredibly difficult with how pivotal a role he played on that show. Everyone understand why it was done, but there has always been a portion of wrestling fans who feel that a line should have been drawn between Chris Benoit the wrestler and Chris Benoit the human being. They feel that Benoit achieved far too much during his career to simply have it all wiped away. Sure, you can fire up the WWE Network and watch Benoit matches, but you certainly won't find them using the search or chapter skip options. It's a really touchy subject, and has been known to set off arguments and debates between fans on opposing sides.
