https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzwIo5O99vc Controversy: Jake Roberts being obscenely drunk/high for the show; terrible performances from out-of-shape wrestlers There are plenty of "legends" shows on the independent wrestling scene. Cards full of people who were major stars in the 90's, 80's, 70's and sometimes even further back. They're all way beyond their primes, but it allows for a new generation of fans to see them, and for older fans to feel that wave of nostalgia all over again. 1999's Heroes Of Wrestling pay-per-view was a bigger version of those shows, but it did far more damage. The fact that none of the matches were any good isn't a surprise to anyone. However, there were a couple matches that were so bad, no logical excuses could be made for them. A match pitting The Bushwhackers against The Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff has been labeled by many as, perhaps, the worst match wrestling has ever seen. It is the antics of Jake "The Snake" Roberts that place this show on the list, though. First, he comes out for a promo to hype up his upcoming match with Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart, and he is clearly intoxicated, staggering around and slurring his words. Then, he came to the ring for his match, only to leave for a bit, and then return, almost as if he forgot what he was supposed to be doing. Then, he decided to stick his snake between his legs and simulate masturbation on it as if it were his penis. Finally, the show had to go off the air immediately after the match (which was changed to Roberts and Yokozuna VS Neidhart and King Kong Bundy, in an attempt to cover for Roberts' inebriated state) because Roberts was stripping his clothes off. It was one of the more embarrassing moments in Jake's lengthy battle with substance abuse, and an overall black eye on the entire industry.
