When defending WCW Champion, Sting, stepped into the ring with the man-mountain known as Big Van Vader, fans knew The Stinger was in for the fight of his life at the Great American Bash ’92

With a visible weight advantage, a rugged style and an undeniable aura of invincibility, Vader was unlike any challenger Sting had ever faced up until that point. He was big, he was mean and he was gunning for gold.

Sting’s title was in serious jeopardy and those fears would be realised when the bell rung at the Bash. Physicality was the word of the day as Vader took the fan-favourite to the limit and back in the name of title glory.

With size against him, Sting opted to stick and move before the lumbering challenger managed to slow the pace down to his tempo; even using Sting’s own Scorpion Death Lock against him to wear the champ down.

Even a huge, desperation German Suplex on “The Mastadon” wasn’t enough to keep the challenger down for three, as Vader fought back to hit a brutal Powerbomb on Sting and claim the WCW Championship for the very first time.
