20 Original WWE Character Concepts You Won’t Believe

14. Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat

Goldust Concept
WWE

Ricky Steamboat's 1991 WWE return saw him steer into his 'Dragon' nickname with outlandish fire and attire augmenting a cartoonish upgrade of his original babyface visage.

Steamboat was apparently hugely invested in making the gimmick a success and loved all the original drafts before settling on the red, green and yellow ensemble instead of the slightly more lizard-like original. Though his second stint didn't last, his time in the gear did - he took versions of it with him all the way through to his final WCW run years later.
