This one should make anyone that was a fan of WCW realise just how long ago it was that the company was in its heyday. How many people reading right now even still use landline phones? Maybe a few, but probably not enough that WWE or TNA are going to start slapping their superstars all over them (well maybe TNA would). Even if they did on the odd chance though, you would hope that at the very least the phone would be wrestling themed. WCW didnt think that though. They went with a NASCAR phone. Because nothing reminds us of two men grappling in a ring wearing next to nothing, than a bunch of other men in full body jumpsuits and safety gear driving in a circle. Was Goldberg a NASCAR driver? No. When you think of Goldberg do you think of NASCAR? Probably not. When you think of wrestling merchandise, do you think of cars in general? Most likely the answer is no. But WCW sponsored a less than stellar NASCAR team in the late 1990s, so obviously the cross promotion was too good to pass up. How a Goldberg themed landline phone had anything to do with either of these two areas, were not sure. But hey, these are all just details. There were probably thousands of males in the 18-34 demographic desperately trying to feel complete with a wrestling car themed telephone...right?
