20 Superstars Who Only Had One Championship Reign In WWE

15. Shane Douglas

Ricky Steamboat Intercontinental Championship
WWE

Dean Douglas was meant to wrestle Shawn Michaels for the Intercontinental Championship at In Your House 4, but The Heartbreak Kid forfeited the gold after being "attacked by several marines". As a result, Dean was handed his first ever championship in the WWF without even having to wrestle a match. Douglas' joy was short lived, as he was forced to defend the belt against his old rival, Razor Ramon. Twenty minutes later, Douglas was without his title.

In reality, "Dean" Douglas was actually Shane Douglas who was already a former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion before his time working for Vince McMahon. After departing the WWF in 1996, Douglas returned to his former promotion of ECW and the rest is history as Douglas captured their top title four times and became one of their most enduring and popular performers.

The fact that the WWF couldn't think of anything better for Shane Douglas to do in 1995 shows just how much of a state the company was in at the time. Still, his reign with the IC title is a record-setter, although maybe not for the reasons The Franchise might have hoped.
