20 Superstars Who Only Had One Championship Reign In WWE

14. Sherri Martel

Ricky Steamboat Intercontinental Championship
WWE

Whilst you may know her as the manager of Randy Savage or Shawn Michaels, "Sensational" Sherri Martel was a very accomplished wrestler in her own right.

She first rose to fame in the American Wrestling Association where she held their women's title three times. On 24th July 1987, Sherri made her first in-ring appearance for the WWF at a house show in Texas. In this match, she defeated The Fabulous Moolah for the WWF Women's Championship, ending Moolah's year-long reign with the belt.

Winning a championship on your first night in a company is super-impressive, but to hold onto that belt for a further 441 days is even more so. Sherri would eventually drop the gold to Rockin' Robin and feud with her until the WWF phased out its women's division in the early 90s.

Sherri was a fantastic wrestler and an even better character. Had the WWF given more than one crap about their women's division when she was around, she could have been a multi-time champion without a doubt.
