20 Superstars Who Only Had One Championship Reign In WWE
16. Marc Mero
Marc Mero had all the promise in the world when he joined the WWF in 1996.
A successful midcarder in WCW as Johnny B. Badd, Mero won their TV title three times. His acquisition by Vince McMahon was one of the first major talent steals in the Monday Night Wars and many had high hopes for Mero in his new home. Sadly, that hope didn't last very long.
He was able to claim one major victory in the company when he won a tournament for the vacant Intercontinental Championship in September 1996. Marc would hold this belt for just one month before dropping it to Hunter Hearst Helmsley. After a brief feud with the future King of Kings, Mero disappeared from the title picture forever.
Mero's history in the WWF is a long and complicated subject, but the short of it is that he was hard done by. He could have been a really solid upper midcarder if given the chance, but his time in the company remains historic not only because he gave Triple H his first ever title win but for another reason too.
We'll get to her later.
