20 Things We Learned From Brock Lesnar On Stone Cold's WWE Network Podcast

14. Training At Ohio Valley

Austin shows a picture of the vaunted OVW class of 2002 featuring Brock, John Cena, Randy Orton and Batista and asked what his initial thoughts were when reporting for duty at the training facility. Brock mentions his friend Shelton Benjamin who was also a part of that class, saying that they were roommates in college and they moved in together in Louisville. He says that he immediately loved the facility, calling it "barbaric" and comparing it to the gyms and weight rooms he was used to. He says an important piece of the puzzle was the fact that WWE allowed him to hold off on going to OVW because he had some wrestling camps he was previously committed to attending. During this period he began working with Brad Rheingans who brought in guys like Curt Hennig and Wayne Bloom to help him learn the business. Brock calls this tremendously instrumental in grooming him for the pro ranks and says if he had went to school anywhere else in Minnesota he wouldn't have gotten the notoriety and opportunities that he did.
