20 Things We Learned From Joe Rogan's Podcast Interview With Jake Roberts
7. He'd Trade The Snake Out Every 10 Days
If you believed that 'Damien' was the same snake throughout Jake's entire run in the WWF from 1986-1992, then think again. It turns out that he'd cycle out each animal every 10 days so that they wouldn't die from being crammed in cases and put in the hold on cross-country planes.
Again, Roberts wouldn't notify airlines that he was bringing a reptile with him on flights. Often, they'd never find out, and Jake guesses he was on thousands of trips without anyone knowing a thing about the snakes that could feasibly get loose and crawl around on their plane.
Someone give Samuel L. Jackson a call.
It didn't escape Jake's attention that he usually had to work 90-day loops without a break when each snake clocked off after 10. The rough WWF schedule meant he had to make a contact in Florida who'd keep him supplied with enough snakes for each run.
