Jake Roberts spent between 25-30 years (he's guessing) hooked on cocaine. During that period, he admits he wouldn't even bother getting out of bed unless he had some coke by his side, and it was the only way friends or colleagues could get him up.

On that note, the drug was the only thing that mattered to him.

It was more important than life itself that Jake get something to snort each morning. There's a chilling moment in Rogan's interview when Roberts soberly concedes that he would happily have murdered another human being if they tried to stop him from getting to the sweet white powder that made the world more bearable.

That's addiction, and it's something Jake says he can barely comprehend now his life is in order. In 2018, he's 100% drug and alcohol free, which is remarkable for somebody who couldn't function without a truckload of coke in his prime.
