20 Things We Need To See From Lucha Underground Season 2

12. A Wider Variety Of Merchandise

I bought a Lucha Underground t-shirt as soon as they were  available, and I'm sure I'm not alone. Even then, all the El Rey store had to offer was hats and t-shirts with two versions of the L.U. logo on them. No merchandise to speak of for individual wrestlers, not even the characters created by El Rey. I'm not going to pretend I'm an expert in international copyright law and demand that El Rey sell me stuff that AAA clearly owns the rights to, but Mil Muertes, Prince Puma, and King Cuerno are original creations. No reason not to let people buy their stuff.

For a company that spends so much money on production costs and makes nothing from ticket sales, things like apparel, wall art and home video sales can be great ways to create revenue streams. Home video is especially important, because premium cable isn't exactly a thriving business model in these days of streaming services. People want to support for Lucha Underground, but not if they have to pay for a premium cable package that includes the NASCAR channel or 24/7 vintage game shows or whatever. Just put out a Blu-Ray/DVD set of season one, with all the behind-the-scenes extras and featurettes you can jam in, and I promise people will buy it. I'll buy a bunch and give them as Christmas gifts.
