20 Times The Undertaker Proved WWE Is His Yard

4. He Keeps Coming Back, Even If He Doesn't Have To

By the late 2000s, there was literally nothing left for the Undertaker to do in WWE. He had won multiple World Championships, engaged in some of the most memorable matches in WWE history, helped build new stars, and, most importantly, main-evented WrestleMania several times. By the time WrestleMania XXVI came to an end, and €˜Taker retired Shawn Michaels, Undertaker had dealt with the last true outstanding issue he had with another WWE Superstar. He had no more rivalries to finish (which means we never got an explanation for the Nexus interfering in his last-ever Buried Alive match), no title desires, and nothing left to prove. For all intents and purposes, Undertaker could€™ve retired and no one would€™ve been surprised. However, the Undertaker has kept returning every year, despite his weakening body and sometimes questionable health, to perform at WrestleMania. Since 2011, Undertaker has pretty much wrestled only one match per year, and made very rare appearances otherwise. As fans have testified, outside of the ring, Undertaker has looked old and frail, and he has even begun protecting his character less than during previous years, indicating that he doesn€™t care as much about how he€™s seen. Nonetheless, the Undertaker has continued to show up for WrestleMania, just because he knows he€™s a special draw, and his appearance at €˜Mania always helps boost ticket sales. That speaks volumes about how much he cares about WWE; he could refuse to work a match very easily, knowing that he has enough money as it is to live out the rest of his life in comfort. Yet he keeps coming back, out of loyalty to Vince McMahon and the company that made him famous. That is a special kind of commitment that deserves great praise, given how much €˜Taker sacrifices every year to entertain the fans.
