20 Times The Undertaker Proved WWE Is His Yard

3. His WrestleMania Matches With Shawn Michaels

For the longest time, there was an unofficial rivalry in WWE between Shawn Michaels and the Undertaker. Both of them were the leaders of influential backstage groups (Shawn Michaels€™ Kliq and Undertaker€™s Bone Street Krewe). Both of them were featured prominently at WrestleMania, with HBK having the moniker of €˜Mr. WrestleMania€™ and Undertaker having his legendary Streak. Finally, Shawn and €˜Taker had wrestled each other only a handful of times, with Michaels winning in those confrontations. This is why their matches at WrestleMania are among the greatest in WWE history. There was so much drama, excitement, and excellent storytelling that Undertaker and HBK stole the show on both occasions. The fact that both matches were claimed Match of the Year by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and Pro Wrestling Illustrated, as well as Slammy Awards for the matches in general, is testament to just how good these legends would wrestle. With their first match, Undertaker proved that WWE is his yard by finally defeating the last major Attitude Era Superstar that he had never defeated before. It was an outstanding match that not only stole the show, but demonstrated without a shadow of a doubt that Undertaker definitely got better with age. In their second encounter, Undertaker proved that he was the biggest dog in the yard by forcing Shawn Michaels to retire, making €˜Taker the only Superstar still active on the WWE roster that had appeared on the very first episode of RAW in 1993. By defeating Michaels for a second time, and making him depart from WWE, Undertaker established himself as the unquestioned king of WWE. There was no one more legendary or more loyal to WWE left in the company, and thus Undertaker no longer had any other big dogs trying to take his yard from him.
