If anyone needs an illustration of how different attitudes towards women's wrestling were in WWE 20+ years ago, then this is it. Before debuting to win that Women's Title in a Battle Royal on 30 June 2003, Gail Kim had worked a string of house show bouts. Were they all mat classics that bolstered her skills and readied Gail for the big time?

Nah, they were mostly 'Bra & Panties' exhibitions vs. Dawn Marie.

Things did get a little heavier on the actual wrestling right before that Raw moment, but WWE didn't take women's wrestling seriously in those days. They wouldn't for another decade or so. Kim held the belt for a month before dropping it to Molly Holly.

Later, Jim Ross revealed that Vince McMahon couldn't comprehend why anyone would find Gail attractive. Speaks volumes, doesn't it?
