Paul Wight debuted as The Giant on WCW telly in 1995, and was instantly framed as the son of Andre who'd come for revenge on Hulk Hogan. That was downplayed soon enough, but The Giant's importance to the top line mix certainly wasn't. He'd win the WCW World Title from Hogan at Halloween Havoc '95.

Jimmy Hart had ensured that the belt could switch on a DQ (to protect Hogan and prevent him from taking a clean pin), so there he was: The Giant became WCW's top champ in the blink of an eye. It's incredible to think that this was Wight's first official match full stop. He'd worked training bouts at the Power Plant, but that was it.
