The strange feud between Punk and Kevin Nash began at SummerSlam 2011, when Nash gave Punk a Jacknife Powerbomb, allowing Alberto Del Rio to cash in his Money in the Bank and quickly steal Punk's newly-won Undisputed WWE Title. In the following weeks, the two confronted each other frequently, with Punk believing Triple H ordered Nash to do it, while Nash replied that it wasn't specifically targeted at Punk, but at whoever won the title match out of him and John Cena. All this bickering lead to a match booked for Night of Champions, but ultimately Triple H booked himself in Nash's place after Punk continually insulted Trips' family. Trips won the match after Nash attacked both men (yes, really), and to make things seem even sloppier, Trips and Punk ended up teaming against Miz and Truth at the very next month's PPV, Vengeance, where Nash again attacked Triple H, causing them to lose the match. Thankfully this awful, awkward program quietly died a death soon after this.
