20 WTF Moments In Stone Cold Steve Austin's WWE Career

12. Botching The Royal Rumble

Royal Rumble botches luckily aren't very common, which is good, because these mistakes can easily change the course of the whole event. That said, sometimes men fall out too early or slip up. Stone Cold is not immune to such problems, and he came clean in an interview. Although the year isn't entirely clear, Austin claims it was his first or second Royal Rumble, which would have put the event in 1996 or 1997. Even then, the Texas Rattlesnake got the distinction of being one of the top four men left in the ring near the event's end. He said that due to the baby oil that the wrestlers had on that the ropes were more slippery than usual and that he was able to fall right out of the ring. He credits Shawn Michaels for saving the day, saying that "he could make chicken salad out of anything". Austin signaled to the Heartbreak Kid that he had botched the finish and Michaels took the change and ran with it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKmcljuyZSo
