20 WTF Moments In Stone Cold Steve Austin's WWE Career

6. Rikishi Being Revealed As The Man Who Tried To Kill Him

Stone Cold was plagued with some pretty severe injuries during his wrestling career. He had worsening knee problems and, after a botched piledriver from Owen Hart in 1997, serious neck issues, too. By 1999, Austin needed more work done on his neck and so, to write him out of the WWE product for a good long while, a storyline was configured where he was struck by a car ahead of his WWF Championship match against The Rock and Triple H at Survivor Series. The segment was replayed a million times, but it was left open-ended as to who did it. Given the brutal, vicious nature of their feud and his general ruthlessness, it made sense for Triple H to have been the assailant. Right? Wrong. When Austin returned to WWE in the autumn of 2000 after healing from surgery, it was finally time to get to the bottom of the car attack. Rikishi, who was in the main event picture at the time, came forward and admitted he did it so that Rock would win the WWF Championship. Even with a new theme and a bad attitude, no one bought that Rikishi, formerly the jolly dancing fool with Too Cool, could have done such a heinous thing. In the end, WWE backtracked and announced that Rikishi had worked under Triple H to do the job.
