Translated, 'Just Joe' was the WWF's own 'Average Joe'. He was also one hell of a sh*t-stirrer who'd approach wrestlers and tell them others had insulted them backstage. That, of course, was an easy way for the company to make matches and spark feuds. Just send Joe over there to claim some nonsense and voila.

Instant feud.

The gimmick didn't last long. Joe E. Legend (who played the character) only lasted around a year on the scene before being released shortly before WrestleMania X-Seven in 2001. During his brief flirtation with the big time, 'Just Joe' worked mainly on Heat and showed up in random pre-tapes on Raw if creative needed an easy match-maker.

Legend went on to work extensively throughout Europe on the independents, and even broke into acting. It's unlikely the guy used his time as 'Just Joe' to wow casting directors though. His character was deliberately-plain, soft-spoken and floated around in the background of segments.
