20 WWE Retirements That Meant Absolutely Nothing

9. Hulk Hogan (1992)

Of Hulk Hogan€™s many retirements, this one was the first. As the company built to Wrestlemania 8 where Hulk would face Sid Justice, there started to be some rumblings that this may in fact be Hogan€™s last match. Behind the scenes, allegations of Hogan€™s steroid use began to seep into the mainstream, which would eventually lead to Vince McMahon€™s indictment on steroid distribution charges. After Wrestlemania, Hogan would take a hiatus for a year while smaller, more talented wrestlers like Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels were pushed to the forefront of the company. Hulk would return just in time for Wrestlemania 9, effectively ending his first fake retirement.
