20 WWE Ruthless Aggression Era Stars You Totally Don't Remember
9. Sylvester Terkay
WWE's relationship with the world of Mixed Martial Arts has been topsy-turvy. Brock Lesnar's return to the company in 2012 was as a legitimate shoot fighter who was even more dangerous than he had been during his previous run. The Undertaker has also incorporated elements of MMA into his arsenal over the years. These are notable examples, but WWE was interested in having an MMA-influenced character who wasn't even a pro wrestler at all. Enter Sylvester Terkay. Winning streaks are nothing new to WWE, and Terkay was handed one upon his debut in 2006. With Elijah Burke acting as his manager, the big heavy-hitter went undefeated for around 3 months on television. Mainly flipping between the ECW and Smackdown brands, Terkay had a character that could have worked, but just didn't capture the imagination of fans. The company desperately wanted fans to perceive Terkay as dangerous and threatening to absolutely everybody he faced. Much like with many other stars however, they started to lose patience when it became clear it would take more than simple squash matches to get Terkay over. Less than 6 months after his debut, Terkay was released, marking a failed experiment in WWE history.
