20 WWE Stars STRUGGLING Since WrestleMania 40

16. New Catch Republic

Heading into WrestleMania, Pete Dunne ditched the Butch name, reformed his partnership with Tyler Bate, and New Catch Republic was positioned as a truly viable option to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania.

They failed, but not without putting on a great performance and still looking like they could capture those belts in due time.

Unfortunately, since then, all hopes of that happening appear to be dwindling with each passing week, as they have lost every match except one on Main Event against The Creed Brothers, who beat them a few weeks later to even the score.

Bate and Dunne aren't even big fish in a small pond for NXT anymore, as they made a special trip down to developmental on June 11th, volunteering to back up Wes Lee against Gallus, only to be beaten then, too.

It's now clear that the buzz they had before WrestleMania was mostly meant to set them up as the first team A-Town Down Under could topple after Grayson Waller and Austin Theory won those belts, and now, New Catch Republic seems stuck in the role of the team others beat to add a win to their records.
