Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada put Dave Meltzer into seventh heaven with their thrilling denouement at Osaka-jo Hall's Dominion 6.9 show, forcing the veteran wrestling journalist to once more shatter his star-rating scale to accommodate their collective genius.

Over the course of 2017, the pair had thrice smashed Meltzer's five-star system, culminating with their ******1/4 showdown at the previous Dominion. A year later, they managed to find an additional three-quarters of a snowflake in the bottom of the bag, pushing the new standard all the way to an unheard of seven.

Naturally, the stunt rating caused something of a stir. Not everybody was happy that Meltzer had fundamentally altered his entirely arbitrary system for the sake of a single match. Others accepted that this was simply the new normal.

What wasn't in dispute was the sheer quality of Okada and Omega's 'final' offering, a suitable climax to a two-year journey. It wasn't just a great match. It was the art of professional wrestling encapsulated in one perfect package.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
