Jeff Hardy was an undercard / midcard wrestler when Smackdown launched in 1999, and he had some memorable moments on the show before his departure from WWE in 2003. His highlight was undoubtedly the April 12 2001 victory he had over Triple H, when he won the Intercontinental Title. Returning to WWE in 2006, he became a mainstay on Smackdown in 2008 and 2009. As part of his blue brand transition, he became WWE Champion at the end of 2008, literally becoming the face of Smackdown. Major feuds with Matt Hardy and CM Punk followed, before Hardy left the company due to injury and personal issues.
