As we’ve already seen in this list, the influx of talent from WCW—and ECW for that matter—in the early 2000s saw a number of titles unified.

And eventually it got to the point that even some titles which had been in WWE before the 2001 acquisition were at risk of going extinct. One such title was of course the European Championship, which in the summer of 2002 was merged with the Intercontinental title.

The match that facilitated the unification was a predictably exciting ladder match between Rob Van Dam and Jeff Hardy—two of the greatest high-flyers in company history.

Bodies were battered at a ferocious pace, before Van Dam connected with a Five Star Frog Splash from the top of one of the ladders, which afforded him enough time to climb back up and retrieve the Intercontinental title belt. The European title is still yet to be seen since.
