Another non-title Cena entry, though this time it was the World Heavyweight Championship he was wearing around his waist. His adversary for the evening, Edge, was at the time the WWE Champion, and unsurprisingly the two put on a thoroughly entertaining match.

Ultimately the match ended in a no contest though. Somehow Cena had eyes in the back of his head, spotting Chris Jericho making his way to the ring despite facing the complete opposite direction. That prompted a brawl between the two, before Triple H and Jeff Hardy emerged to get their hands on the Rated-R Superstar Edge.

For clarity, this wasn’t just a free-for-all—Cena and Jericho were set to do battle in six days at Armageddon, as were Edge, Triple H and Hardy. Nonetheless, it seems that champion vs. champion non-title bouts can’t help but end with some sort of shenanigans…
