22 WWE Stars From The 2000s That You Totally Don't Remember

9. Colin Delaney

The story of how Colin Delaney came to get a WWE contract is more interesting than most. He had been working the independent circuit for a couple of years when he got a call from his good friend Brodie Lee (now Luke Harper) asking him how quickly he could make it to the Blue Cross Arena, where Smackdown and ECW were taping that night. This was in December 2007 when Delaney was working a 9 to 5 in a factory in Rochester, NY. So he drove like a maniac once his shift finished in order to get to the arena on time. Once there he was told he was 'perfect' for what they needed. They needed a small jobber to get beaten by Shelton Benjamin. The company brought Delaney back week after week to get squashed by the likes of Mark Henry, Kane and The Great Khali. This all led to WWE offering him a contract and putting him in a storyline which culminated in him and Tommy Dreamer challenging The Miz and John Morrison for the WWE Tag Team Championships. Delaney turned heel on Dreamer and was released soon after, with budget cuts cited as the reason.
