25 Biggest WWE Epic Failures Of 2016
3. Cruiserweight Division
The Cruiserweight Classic hosted some of the greatest wrestling in WWE this year with the likes of Kota Ibushi, Zack Sabre Jr., Cedric Alexander, Brian Kendrick and many other amazing athletes contesting classics on a weekly basis throughout the summer. As a result, fans had high hopes for the Cruiserweight division when it was announced that it would return to Raw in September.
Sadly, the entire presentation of the division was flawed from the get-go. The purple ring ropes didn't do anything to give the division a different feel from everything else on Raw, and aside from a few cool spots, it failed to add excitement to the third hour of the flagship show.
They suffered from a lack of stories and their in-ring style being drastically toned down from what they were allowed to do during the Cruiserweight Classic was disappointing as well. There are a ton of tremendously talented wrestlers on the Cruiserweight roster, but the crowds haven't been responding the way officials wished they would.
It's been three months since the introduction of the Cruiserweights on Raw, and although 205 Live has been a big help as of late, WWE will need to put more effort into making the division mean more in the new year if it's going to be a success long-term.
