25 Biggest WWE Epic Failures Of 2016
4. Shane McMahon Runs Raw Despite WrestleMania Loss
There is little doubt that Shane McMahon's shocking return to WWE this year provided fans with one of the most memorable moments of 2016. However, there was some uncertainty surrounding how well he would fare in the ring for his first bout back at WrestleMania 32, much less against The Undertaker in a Hell in a Cell match. He put forth a valiant effort, but in the end, he had a pretty poor performance and had no business being inside the ring again.
Going into the event, Shane vs. Undertaker was one of the most anticipated matchups on the card due to its high stakes. If Shane could somehow defeat The Deadman, he would be allowed to run Raw and replace his sister Stephanie McMahon, in addition to ensuring 'Taker could never again compete at WrestleMania.
Needless to say, fans were pulling for Shane to score the victory against all odds just so the landscape of the company could finally change, but he came up short. Despite that, he showed up on Raw the next night and was given the reins to Raw anyway by his father Vince McMahon. Granted, the show was as exciting as any past post-WrestleMania episode has proven to be, but why was the match given such a stipulation if the company wasn't going to live up to it either way?
