Style: Karate Early in his career, Ricky Steamboat didn't really have a gimmick. He was a great wrestler and a super nice guy, and that was more than enough for an NWA babyface in the 1980's. He had a good deal of success, but he was never a real, bonafide main event star until Vince McMahon slapped a cheesy Bruce Lee gimmick on him. As the Dragon, Steamboat would mix thrust kicks and theatrical chops with his outstanding technical wrestling and unparalleled audience sympathy to become a truly singular performer.
