Lita's best-known romantic storyline was based on her real-life affair with Edge, and for better or for worse, it heavily influenced the final year of her WWE career. However, before she and Edge became an item, she was involved in a far worse storyline with Kane.

Kane, who developed an interest in Lita, began to repeatedly attack her boyfriend, Matt Hardy, only relenting when Lita agreed to sleep with him -- which, for those not familiar with the law, clearly constitutes rape. Lita ended up impregnated by Kane, and while Matt Hardy jumped to his girlfriend's defense, he found himself overmatched by "The Big Red Machine."

The two battled at SummerSlam 2004, with the stipulation naturally stating that the winner would get to marry Lita. After a tepid six-minute blow-off to the entire program, Kane emerged victorious.

The aftermath was just as bad as the build-up and the match. Hardy tried to interrupt the wedding, but Kane fought back, injured him, and married Lita. Weeks later, an in-ring accident with Gene Snitsky caused Lita to miscarry, setting the stage for a Kane-Snitsky feud. Kane sooned turned face and he and Lita found common ground -- until she turned on him to join Edge.

This stands as one of WWE's most awful storylines ever, and had more of it taken place at SummerSlam, it would have placed even higher on the list.
