25 Lamest WWE SummerSlam Moments Of All Time

4. Diesel Versus Mabel - SummerSlam 1995

Much like they would with Billy Gunn four years later, WWE used the 1995 King of the Ring tournament to make a new star... and much like with Gunn, it was a gross miscalculation. Former World Tag Team Champion Mabel turned heel and won the tournament, but his push made Gunn's look gradual -- he was immediately slotted into a title match with WWE Champion Diesel at SummerSlam.

The match itself was abysmal -- which was little surprise, given the men involved. Nash retained the title, but due to Mabel's size, he wasn't able to utilize his Jackknife Powerbomb finisher, opting instead for a top rope clothesline to finish what was not only one of the worst SummerSlam main events ever, but one of the shortest.

To be fair, the crowd did react to the match, but in hindsight, it didn't matter -- the buyrate for the show dropped sharply from the previous year, and not only was Mabel pulled from the main event, but Diesel lost the title to Bret Hart at the next major Pay-Per-View, Survivor Series.
