25 Most Memorable Wrestling Promos Of All-Time

7. Vince Russo Kicks Hulk Hogan Out Of WCW

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_DHYPKdUdM Hulk Hogan's penchant for backstage politics made him a lot of enemies during his time with WCW, but Vince Russo may have been the biggest of the bunch... if you believe one side of the story. That story has been told ad nauseam by now. Hogan was scheduled to lose his match to WCW Champion Jeff Jarrett at Bash At The Beach 2000, but he pulled his "creative control" card at the last minute, meaning that he would have to pick up the win. Jarrett and WCW writer Vince Russo would get together and come up with the plan for Jarrett to "lay down" and lose. After Hogan won the match, he would cut a promo about how WCW was in the shape it was in because of decisions like that, which nearly broke the world's Irony Meter. The next part is where things are disputed. Russo would come out later in the show and viciously run Hogan down in a scathing promo, ripping on the aforementioned backstage politics. Russo claimed that Hogan was done with WCW and that he could keep the title because the company would have a new champion crowned in the show's main event. Russo's multiple curse words during the promo are what really caught the attention of those watching the show. It made things seem more "real". Hogan would file a lawsuit, claiming that everything up to him leaving the building with the WCW Title had been agreed to and scripted, but that Russo's promo was a "shoot" and that it was never agreed to. Russo has a side to the story, but so does Hogan, as well as Eric Bischoff, who was Hogan's travel partner at the time. The only thing people have been able to agree on is Russo's promo and how strong a shot it was at one of the sport's biggest stars of all-time.
